For more than 20 years, Teacher Jackie provided child care to families and learn different cultures and beliefs. In 2013, Teacher Jackie decided to further her study in early childhood education (child and family studies) by enrolling in Napa Valley College and open a child care at her home in 2014. In 2018, due to an increase need of high quality child care in Napa, Teacher Jackie expanded her small family child care to large family child care, Soaring Wings. Soaring Wings focuses on individualized small group care of children with an emphasis on individual interest, strengths, and needs. She believes that children grow and learn at their own pace, drawing on multiple philosophies, including Reggio Emelia, Waldorf, and Montessori. She believes that it is important not to limit the developmental capabilities and interests of children. Let the children have a choice in the learning process, contributing to their self-esteem and self-regulation. Aside from founding and managing Soaring Wings, Teacher Jackie continues to work directly with children because she feels passionate about teaching and loves to work with children. Teacher Jackie manages two amazing bilingual assistant teachers and they work as a team to provide focused attention and a high level of care. Jackie is also a Family Child Care Advocate at the state and local level, which involves lobbying for child care through measures such as SB 234, passed to help increase accessibility of child care. She is an active member of National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), National Association for Family Child Care (NAFCC), and California Family Child Care Network (CFCCN).
When not working at Soaring Wings, she loves to spend time with her husband and children. Jackie’s children all attended Stone Bridge Waldorf School where she volunteers her time and contributes to the school community through donations. Jackie also loves to travel, mountain bike, hike, attend Zumba and yoga classes, do arts and crafts, sing karaoke, cook international cuisine, and visit her friends and families around the world. More recently, Teacher Jackie started providing assistance to public schools in remote, poor areas of the Philippines.
